Ok, i drove my car fine two days ago, didn't get a chance to drive it yesterday and went to drive it today, and the car will not do anything when i put the key in the run position.
all the interior stuff works, the headlights and sunroof and everything seems fine, its a basicly brand new battery. probably 2 months old.
The interior and headlights do not dim at all or anything like that when i go to start the car, it just does nothing, onlything i can hear kick on is the fuel pump.
Ive tried starting the car in neutral and still nothing, ive disconnected scraped and reconnected the battery. and still nothing.
Could it be a alternator or starter problem?
Any help is greatly appreciated thx.
forgot to mention, my car is a 2001 Chevy Cavalier Z24 2.4L
I recently had the same problem with my car the only difference was my car would turn over. Come to find out it was the selenoid switch on the car, part of the starter. If your car is not turning over completly but it turns on then it might be the whole starter. Hope this helps!
^^ could be. check the wires on the starter, in particular the small one that goes to the solenoid. if all's ok there, while someone's trying to start the car (key in start position) hit the starter with a hammer. if it cranks, then its the starter. if not, try the neutral safety switch.

i had the same problem a few times..
Once it was the ground wires attached to the block were dirty and couldnt complete the circuit.. the little black lead off the starter kept the thing from cranking over...
I have a 4spd auto.. and the linkage came slightly loose and it wouldnt crank over because it was partly in reverse...

it ended up having to do with the battery. the cables were complete junk, so we worked on them and the problem was solved. we too kthe starter out and cleaned it and anll the wires and junk anyways, also cleaned other stuff while i was at it. But now it runs fine. so watever i guess lmao. thx for help anyways guys
