Just wondering if anybody could tell me what the difference is between double platinum and just plain platinum... looking at NGK's .. Thanks

I imagine double platinum means that it has double the coating which would make it more heat resistant... I ended up getting NGK Iridiums they were on sale at a local store for cheaper then the platinums

Its the number of ground tabs. i.e. Bosch Platinum 2s have 2 ground tabs and Bosch Platinum 4s have 4 ground tabs

fail. @!#$ty bosch plugs are a gimmick. yeah, thats what it means for them, but WHY would you use a spark plug that put so much junk in your combustion chamber? the more things for the fuel air mix to get around, and for the flame path to subsequently follow, the less efficient the plugs are. on the ngk, and any DECENT plug, a single platinum only has platinum on the center electrode. the double platinums have it on both the center and the ground electrode, the tab that hangs over the center.

Lets see, i fail for answering his question to the best of my knowledge? I have never used NJK's only Boschs and have never had a problem with them. I was just going with what i knew from my experiance.

Congarts, your e-penis has grown 1mm.

Now i know better? You actually think you just converted me from Bosch plugs? Yes i know why the single ground tab plugs are better. I started using the Bosch Platinum 2s when i was young and "stupid", but you know what? I have never had a problem with them, so i stuck with what worked. If my ECO needs plugs before i build it for boost then i'll use the Boschs' again. After its boosted then i wont use them, due to their design. But for now Boschs' get the job done and thats what i care about.

BTW respecting others will get you further in life, but you dont seem to care about that. Yes, you are better than me cuz i use Bosch plugs and you(i assume) use NGKs.

completely different story. the bmw and vw cars you will find that come factory with those plugs have heads and combustion chambers designed in such a way that the twin tabs work. our cars however, are not. and as for getting the job done, you're right, they will. BUT, not as efficiently as a regular plug. granted, we're talking fractional torque and hp, as well as mpg, but overtime, that @!#$ builds up. sorry, im not a fan.

i swear i dont understand people. this isnt directed at you per se tinkles. but day in, and day out, i get people that come to me looking for advice on parts. i know every application is different, and as such requires different approaches to come to the same end. now i, being eployed in the retail parts sales field, have read brochures, pamphlets, flyers, propaganda, whatever the hell you want to call it. yeah, they make it sure sound like its worth the extra money. as for me? i've red them, then did research on my own. real world figures are what i look for, numbers that show can be used on one platform to the next to make a determination of what is the best _____ for ______ application. now, again tinkles, nooffense intended, but using you as an example here... you yourself KNOW the product to be inferior. AND overpriced, when you could get something that works BETTER for LESS money, and yet, because, for some reason, only know to you, you decide against it. i'll never understand. again tinkles (dood, your name is REALY weird for this), i've had a bad day, and did not mean for that to come off sounding like an ass. but when i come here and have to explain things on my own time that i usually get paid for, i get a little upset. my bad.
