After u clean the filter, You spray it with the oil, It helps catch the smaller dust particules i believe.

You use the filter oil after you have cleaned it and let it dry.
One thing that I really hated about the K&N filters is that bugs, leaves, and crap getting stuck inbetween the pleats on it. I solved this problem by going to Walmart and getting a pair of nylons. Not for me, for the filter. They are almost knee-highs and come in a variety of colors. Just put one over the cone filter while you are driving it around. Keeps the bigger crap from getting stuck in it and damaging it. Of course, if you want to show off your engine bay, take off the damn nylons. Off the filter, and you, if need be. The nylons are real cheap and disposable and save your filter.
No, I do not have it on my cavy, it is on my '00 Venture.

Or you just get a pre-filter. It does the same thing, except looks better. My buddy runs one on his AEM intake on his Cummins. He has been telling me to get one for a while, which i will proboly end up doing.

does it come with cleaner too? if not you should buy some made for filters (K&N)

recharging is just what they call cleaning and re-oiling the filter.

some filters are made to work without oil. the K&n' s dont trap the small particles without using oil.

I usually recharge mine when i do an oil change, because like rosesunkist said, things get stuck in the ribs.
