I was recently looking under the hood and noticed some rust on this pipe. what is it? whats it for/do?

you cant see it in this pic, but on the opposite side of the pipe around where the arrow is pointing too, i noticed some rust.
i was just wondering what this is for, how important it is, and also.. how hard (whats invovled) would it be to swap in a new one?
thanks everyone!
looks like a coolant line, but i know nothing about 2200s
I have a 2200, and yes thats a coolant line.
I'd say its pretty important.. not sure how to go about changing it though.
sorry

Yea that would be the coolant tube. I wouldn't worry about it being a little bit rusted because the pipe is pretty thick as it is . It probably is only surface rust any way if you can sand it down where it is rusted and paint it. Might want to try high temp paint though being that it is so close to the exhaust manifold. If you can't paint the rust with it on then you could take it off but it might be a pitty to.
by the way what kind of intake do ya got and did was what is the black cover that is over it before you put it in?
so its the cooliant line... what problems will result when this goes bad/gets bad?
Benjamin Wagner: I got the intake from another org member so im not sure what brand it is. and im not sure what your second quesiton is asking...?
thanks for the help so far everyone!
You're likely going to cause more damage trying to replace it. It's directly connected to the head, and you don't want to take it off unnecessarily. I've seen these things flaking with rust on the outside... But generally, they're safe as your antifreeze - if properly flushed/filled according to a regular maintenance schedule - should run off the chance of any internal rust.

mine corroded thru and leaked. this is very uncommon, though. I replaced it with a stainless steel hose for a washing machine hookup. It seemed I couldn't buy the pipe? I thought I was saved when I saw a part number on the "do not vent while engine is running" sticker on a friends car, so I called the local dealership, and the guy says the part number is the part number for the sticker! WTF?!
Mine are rusted pretty bad, and recently I have noticed a coolant leak. on the passenger side of the engine. I dont know if its related, but it sucks, but I dont think its going to be a hard fix. I wouldn't worry about a little rust though.

heh... yeah, they do that.
JBO Stickers! Get yours today!
yeah the is the coolant pipe, on the right side of that pipe is the upper radiator hose, if it breaks or leaks coolant will leak and overheat the car. and possibly blow a gasket. put some heavy duty tape or metal putty when its cold.
im not sure if rust on the end is an issue. got a closer picture of the rust?

My car may run 18s, but I can do your taxes in 10 seconds flat.
JBO lube - they would never have enough in stock and we'd never see RodimusPrime again
i'll see if i can get one. not sure what kind of angle i can get... not in the best spot for getting pictures
It is held into the head by 1 nut and an o-ring, very easy to replace...well kind of, it is very hard to manipulate out of its location, but still not bad. Let me know if you found a replacement tube.
hey does anyone know where to find the coolant hose cuz mine is starting to leak
Junk yard.
Not honestly, I'd be surprised if they asked for more then ten bucks for it.
Just remember to pick up a new gasket (get the FelPro one).
