Due to the ice storm this week, my back window got separated from the top at the bottom. Is this repairable? if so could i do it myself? What all is involved?

My convertible had the same problem.... Got it replaced... Cost me somewhere around $650... A lot of money.. But you might be able to find another way around... I tried to put adhesives on it... Didnt work.. I went to a upholstery place, the guy ordered and replaced it.. Good Luck

the window separating from the top is pretty common with the verts. unfortunately they use something special from the factory to bond the window to the top, so there is no good fix for it other than replacing it. although if you were to use something like liquid nails, etc you can get it back in shape for awhile, but itll always come apart again.

and check the 3rd gen forum. there is a sticky at the top which as the GM convertible supplement in a .pdf file and i also posted a link to the GM CPT water leak repair manual, also in a downloadable .pdf. click the link below my sig for the sticky.

Seems like it needs some work on the back sides.. and also move that snow that is one the back window and make sure that inside part doesnt have any holes.. make sure there is no rips on it especially on the top.. good luck with it... My vert is sale pending so i wont have tthese problems again!

from the pics the top looks to be ok, but id really check it over. move the snow from the rear glass and make sure it isnt coming apart there (kinda looks like it might be). also, check really good around the back bottom where it meets the car. looks like someone just ripped those black pieces off for no apparent reason and they may have damaged the top while doing so.

would you mind checking the rear interior panels' condition and asking how much the yard wants for them? mine are in less-than-stellar condition.

yeah, what else should i look for in the top? i thought that the rips on the passenger rear didnt look good, does that hurt anything? Also, i havent been to the yard yet, the guy sent me those pics so i didnt waste the trip.

On my old 98 vert, I glued it down with windshield adhesive. Held for the 2 years I drove it and sold it. Last I heard, no problems.

bump

also, insurance gave me a check for 550 bucks, for a used one from the yard...i was thinking of getting this epoxy from a place i used to work at the holds pieces of concrete together to withstand 3000psi. i think that would be strong enough to hold the tension on it once i am ready to lower the top back down. what do you think?

if the insurance paid enough for it, try going with a new top. i was thinking that i had heard about soft tops and they were a good company....might have been another one though. do a google search for them and see what people from other forums are saying about them.
