ok i need some help real bad i have a 99 sunfire automatic that had starting problems. So i took to the shop and the told me it was the ignition switch causing all my problems. Well i had a 96 5 speed cavilier that i took the key lock switch and ignition switch out of. Put it all in with the difference being that it had the lil button on the switch. I programed the pass-lock and was all fine then i noticed my digital odometer quit working and that i never fixed my starting problem. Well i deiced to put the old stuff back back int o see if the odometer would work and cause i was tired of using two different keys. Well needless to say when i did i went to reprogram it the pass-lock and it started right up and ran fine but with the theft light on. I even unplugged the wires to the key lock switch and it still starts and runs but with the light on. I'm lost and need to know what to do. Could it honestly be my cluster since my fuel gauge don't work and the odometer. I need some opinions. Another ? if i change the cluster can i come from a 98? Then another problem is when it doesn't want to start it just cranks and when it finally starts i smell gas out the exhuast and it slowing stumbles back up to idle.. Then it likes to bog and above 3k it is sluggish. It's had a tune up, new injectors, and i even put my l-c1 wideband controller on it with my digital gauge to see if it was a bad o2 and above 3k it goes as rich as 11.6. I'm leaning towards the regulator. Plugs were also black and looked to be soaked in gas a lil bit. It did this with the old injectors to. The motor would be the 2200 also..
