where to get a ld9 engine from

well my water pump is dead, and i think i blew a head gasket, the oil is a milky color, i changed the oil and saw metal shavings in the oil.

so instead of trying to figure out everything that is wrong im looking to get a new engine,

does anybody know where to get a ld9 from either new or low miles, i dont really want to go to the junk yard cause you never know it its good or not

there are some on ebay, that are rebuilt for like 1600, the dealer wants around 1800,

Also if i replace the engine, im assuming that you have to take the whole engine and tranny out as one piece?

why would you junk the entire motor when all you need is a water pump and head gasket? thats like $100 in parts and an afternoon to tear it out and put it back together.

i can see swapping if you had an ln2 and were having problems, but you'd just be wasting a good motor and money.

Check out my build thread!

the engine has 125 thousand miles on it, and i found metal shavings in the oil, so there might be something more to it, instead of just the water pump and head gasket, i know i might be able to fix it for a couple hundred dollars, but the engine has been giving me a lot of problems lately, It would be nice to have a new engine with low miles.

i guess the only way to really tell is take it apart and see whats wrong

nope, regardless of tranny's you can take the engine out while leaving it in the car.

i say if you can afford it go with a reman.
