Hey guys, i got a 96 cav, the clutch was going so i got it re-machined, now the car is sticking in 1st, 2nd, 3rd, if i pump the clutch to build pressure it goes into gear but i must force it, it makes a really bad noise, sometimes it wont even go in gear and i need to take off from 2nd or 3rd. wondering if anyone knows what i need to do to fix this, im thinking i need to replace the master cylender. i need my car to get to work, impossible to bus since its outta town, please help i dont want to get stuck outta town because i cant shift into 1st or 2nd or 3rd. Ive bleed the clutch a few times, seems to only fix it for a few hours. anyone else had this prob? please let me know asap, i wanna fix this by the end of the weekend, Thanks alot very apreciated if anyone can help.
sometimes this can be from the shift cables/levers and not from the clutch. excessively worn or missing bushings on the transmission side of the cables, loose or otherwise damaged cable retaining bracket, or possible cable not properly seated in bracket. I would look at that area where the cables go into the trans. since you changed the clutch, you may have disturbed something there.
since pumping the clutch seems to help build pressure... im going to say maybe your through out bearing is gone... mine went and i had no gears...
