Cavalier Reset
Friday, February 29, 2008 9:17 PM
Hey, I have a 2003 Cavalier and the engine light has just came on. I do my own oil changes so that leads me to believe that I need to reset. I would check my manual but when i got the car, it was in French so that did not help. Anyone who knows how to reset a Cavalier, or knows the solution to the problem?

Go to Autozone and have them read the code with their scanner/reader. It is free to do that. Better off to find out what the problem is now, or suffer in the long run if you don't get it fixed.

oil changes or lack thereof will under no circumstances set a cel in our cars. there's something else wrong.

go to autozone, find out the code....and then unplug battery for 20 mins...plug back in see if it pops CEL again

I change oil at my job, should be a seperate light for the oil (ex) change oil soon or oil life monitor. No check engine something else is tripping light

my car has a "check oil" light, but thats more for oil level and not oil life.

if you go to autozone and have them read the code, they can also reset it for you. of course this works about as long as unplugging your battery does so your cel will be back on in no time.
