I have a 1997 Chevy Cavalier 2.2, and the lower radiator hose, (the end that goes in the motor), swelled up very big like it was going to explode, cuz today I was driving my car and it started running hot (typical with my car)
and I went home to do something to my motor, and I looked and the hose was the size of a balled up fist.
I've driven it a little since then, and I keep checking it, the hose is very soft where it was expanded, and, the hose gets a little fatter when I drive a couple miles down the road,
I was wanting to know what the hell is causing this, should I get a new hose?
also the coolant is dirty as hell, (like a caramel color), I'm going to change the coolant tomorrow though, or could it be my thermostat?...or all of the above?

Yes, once it expands, that creates a weak point.
I'd go with a full flush instead of just a change given the color you mentioned, thermostat and both upper and lower hoses (depending on if the upper has ever been changed)
Sorry if I sound dumb, but how would I do a full fluch?
also do you know about how much a thermostat goes for?
thermostats are cheap. even so, get gm parts on this one, as parts store ones generally have weak springs which leads to improper heat management.

Ok, I went and bought a new hose today and the people at advance told me that my problem is probably just the hose, but if the thermostat isn't expensive It wouldn't hurt to get one of those either, but how hard is it to put in and where is it located anyway?
thermostat is located exactly where you lower hose connects to the block. pretty easy job, make sure your gasket mating surfaces are CLEAN. take off the three bolts, install the new thermo and gasket, and then attach your new hose. flush once the new hose is on, and refill.

Ok I got you now, I bought a new hose, some coolant, a thermostat, and a cooling fan censor, (which someone told me that I needed to replace it cuz my fan doesn't come on when the car gets hot, the fan only comes on when I turn the ac on)
atleast thats what I think it is people also said it's the relay but if that was bad the fan wouldn't come on at all right?
