my girlfriend was driving behind me today and she called me and told me i was smoking alot when i got on it. Now i just had this motor built 400 miles ago. Does something sound weird. I dont think my car ever smoked before the rebuild. Will synthetic oil help this problem

sounds to me more like an issue with your fuel pressure regulator. you're running rich if indeed it is black smoke.

Yes.... blacj is running rich..... blue is burning oil....

Although being able to see the exaust a little on a modded J-body isn't uncommon...... some of the meests I've been to... I could tell most of us where running a little rich because you could see some blackness coming from most of our exaust when we took off.... and don't even get me started on what it smells like when driving in a huge line og cars like that..

Black smoke is normal out of a modded engine. All it is, is carbon from unburnt fuel. You can lean out your car alittle or beaf up your ingniton system to try to get a better spark for a more complete burn.
