Whats up guys, new here I got a 01 Cav 2.2 with 114 thou on it, check engine light came for apparent reason, I tryed disconnecting the batt but i didn't clear anything. I'm not all that familliar with OBDII cars, can you still check the ALDL by grounding it and watching the check engine flashes????
I would go to Advance Auto, and ask them to borrow their scanner

no. you need a code scanner, and as said above any advance or autozone can check your code for free (provided their scanner isnt broken... it takes forever to get replaced... it was six months before they sent us our new one after we shipped our defective one.)

autozones are here just rent it out, they usually do a 180 hold on your credit card untill returned.
Yeah, to check just plug it in and it should give you directions on how to read the code or codes. Then post up what code it came up with.
