Power Steering Fluid leak

Hey all,

My power steering fluid has a leak. I am sure of this because it is on my driveway. I had to top up the fluid 3 months ago because my steering was making that famous noise when I would turn my wheel... just now it had to be filled again.

Anyone have any experiences with this? I had recently over a year ago had a little rubber thingi changed on the bottom of my car, when I had a leak the last time. Several months later the leak started again... this little rubber thing costed less than 50 bucks.

I am hoping it is this again, and not anything else leaking... I have heard it could be really expensive because in some occasions the engine has to be taken apart to tell where the leak is coming from.

Get under the car and get under the hood and look for the leak. Its gonna be the wet area. Trace it to the highest point(highest wet PS part) and 9 times outta 10 that gonna be your leak.

I recently had a similar problem.... What I did was start the car and have my wife turn the wheel really sharp in one direction and traced both the powersteering hoses from the pump to the rack and pinion. I noticed that the part where the hose meets the metal tubing that goes into the pinion was leaking bad.... Acctually I could see fluid shooting out of it.... So I traced the problem to the pressure power steering hose. FWI that hose is a BITCH to get to what I would do if this is your problem buy a 18mm shot wrench, about the only wrench that you can loosen and tighten that damn bolt with. BTW the hose cost me I think it was 25 bucks, and took me about 2 hrs to fix it...... Again make sure you have a short wrench to do this a standard size wrench you are gonna bust you knuckles and cuss at it and end up buying one and wondering why you didn't do this to begin with.
