How much oil do I put in a 2001 Cav 2.2L OHV, I dont want to overfill it?

With filter change, you'll probably need close to 4.5 quarts. Put in 4 first, run the engine, then shut it off and wait a few minutes. With the car sitting level, you want it just up to the FULL mark. Each hole on the dipstick is about 0.25 quarts, so you can figure out how much to add from there.
4 quarts will certainly put it into the "safe" zone anyway - but I prefer to keep mine "full". That oil's got an important job in there, so I want to make sure I've got the most I can safely have in there to do it well.
