Thermostat... Do I need to O-ring or gasket or both?

When I went to autozone, I bought a thermostat, and they sold me an o-ring, but when you look at the breakdown on their site it dosn't show a o-ring, it shows a gasket. Just wondering if I should buy the gasket.

O-ring is all you need, maybe a little blue silicone on the gooseneck for peace of mind, but it's not really necessary.
