As the title states, new Crankshaft , rods, and pistons.
Question is simple.
On my old crank, theres a gear that drives the balance shaft/oil pump
on my new crank, theres no gear...theres a place for one, but there isn't one.
I don't like re-using parts, buy my old one looks good.
*COULD* i re-use that? I would prefer to buy a new one, but i cant find one, is it pressed on? Can it be pressed off? Or say F it and get a new one....if so....
*WHERE* could i find a new gear.
Searched here, but found nothing, searched google, but found limiting information, and neither one of my repair manuals even list having to remove it or replace it for getting a new crank...
Im 105% sure my crank is the right one.
I got a new crank and had it balanced so i don't wanna have to not use it, that would make me sad in pants.
please help. Need to get car ready for show in a couple months and theres a lot of work ahead of me.

I give up...
i'm buying a VW those people love trees, so they should love eachother too... "Andy"
yes....its quite simple...you just need a new oil pump and a machine shop/welding shop can do the rest.

Someone has to know this.... or are all you 2.4 builders running the factory crank??
Or are you all 2 good to answer his question?
I would if i knew or i I could find anythign in the search but I cant.
all aftermarket (remaned or brand new) cranks i've seen/looked at need to have the old or new gear pressed on. I dont know how to get the old one off or where to get a new one. I know of one way to get rid of the balance shafts and thats to swap to a 2.3 oil pump.
Quote:
2.4 TC Crankshaft Modifications (Replacing the oil pump drive gears)
The 2.4L crank drive gear must be carefully heated and pressed or tapped off the crank. Be careful not to damage the crank surfaces or apply a lot of heat to the crank. The new oil pump drive gear should be heated and pressed back onto the crank. Use a brass hammer only if needed so you do not damage the teeth.
From the 2.3 oil pump swap.

Thanks for info, ordered one from the chevy dealership
Chevy calls it a "crank sprocket" and the GM part # is 24575544
The sprocket needs to be pressed on at a shop.
Thanks for the help anyways, but i found it out myself after massive amounts of research and a couple connections at a chevy dealership halfway across the country.
