well the other day driving down the road I hit a pot hole and then shortly afterward the entire front end was shaking like I was in the middle of an earth quake that was like a 1,000,000 on the richter (spelling?) scale and the front driver side tire was grinding. There are alot of strange things about this though. It only happens when the tire is moving, (loose caliper? Brake pad cam loose and is grinding with the rotor? CV Joint? who knows) second, it is a 5 spd and it NORMALLY happens when I push the clutch (improves my theory on caliper or pad that is loose, as the car likes to jump a bit when the clutch is pressed and might knock it around and get it grinding again?) any way I am taking it down the road to a buddys house and we are going to get it up on a lift and take the tire off and we will see what happens. I will keep you guys updated. Peace.
well to my surprise it is actually the pressure plate and some bearing that went bad....my mechanic said that he has NEVER seen anything like that before. Just the way that it was grinding and shaking the car he was utterly shocked lol. So now my car is sitting up at the shop and work will commence today and probably be done tomorrow and I will have a new performance clutch and short shifter in. Wish me luck lol this will be my first time doing a clutch, but with my mechanic showing me what to do I am sure that I will be fine. He is an awesome mechanic! Peace!
GRRR! now it looks like the tranny is bad? Maybe I should scrap the car? is it worth putting a clutch and tranny into? it has 124,000+ miles on it.
Maybe you should scrap the car.
That's going to cost you upwards of $2K.
where do you live... and what car is it? i might be able to get you one or sell the car
