Brownish liquid in air intake manifold

Hello,

I have a 2000 pontiac sunfire gt 2.4 and I was cleaning the throttle body. When I removed the air intake manifold, I noticed that the hose that should be connected to the bottom of it wasn't connected so I reconnected it. This instantly caused me to throw my CEL and a check shows it's error code P0440. I drove the car for a little (100km) and now i have a brownish liquid that is all over the inside of the manifold coming up from the hose that i mentioned wasn't connected. The brownish liquid is the same color as coffee with cream but is very thick and sticky. is this normal?

it's oil coming from the crankcase breather

Thanks for the reply It lead me to this thread.... http://www.j-body.org/forums/read.php?f=40&i=136240&t=136026&p=1 - wow!

Anyway, my other question then is, what would cause my CEL light to come on once this hose was reconnected? The OBD-II code is P0440 which is an EVAP error.
