Got a check engine light problem! Help!
Monday, January 14, 2008 6:02 AM
All right guys I really need some help here, because turbo is goin on this weekend.

I found out the code was 507, meaning high idle, which is what is happening, it will from about 1000, which is normal, then it idles about 1100 to 1200 most of the time, then it will sometimes idle really high at about 1500 to 2000. WE replace the icu a few weeks ago, so i dont know what it could be. We did have some problems with the clutch hitting the ecu wires and damaging the wire causing it to ground out, which caused the engine kill, but we fixed that.

Well guys I would really appreciate the help. If you need any more info from me just let me know.

Thanks,
Stefan

I did a little research on p0507 code and this is the possibilities that could cause the high idle and for that code to be thrown:

-High resistance in an IAC circuit
-The correct positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) valve, properly installed and proper operation of the PCV valve
-Proper operation and installation of all air intake components
-Proper installation and operation of the mass air flow (MAF) sensor, if equipped
-A tampered with or damaged throttle stop screw
-A tampered with or damaged throttle plate, throttle shaft, throttle linkage, or cruise control linkage, if equipped
-A skewed high throttle position (TP) sensor.
-Excessive deposits in the IAC passage or on the IAC pintle
-Excessive deposits in the throttle bore or on the throttle plate
-Vacuum leaks
-A high or unstable idle condition could be caused by a non-IAC system problem that can not be overcome by the IAC valve. Refer to Symptoms - Computers and Control Systems. See: Symptom Related Diagnostic Procedures
-If the problem is determined to be intermittent, refer to Intermittent Conditions. See: Symptom Related Diagnostic Procedures\Intermittent Conditions

NOTE: this is strictly of all data and this all of the information that i could find under this code.

hope it helps!

Where is the pcv valve located?

This code is thrown whenever the ECU is unable to bring the idle down to normal. This can be caused by one of several things:

1. Vacuum leak. The ECU completely closes the IAC valve, but it's not enough to lower the idle. ECU freaks out and throws a code.

2. Dead/unplugged IAC valve. The ECU tries to close it, but can't, gives up and throws a code.

Fast way to see if the IAC valve is doing its job...

Take off any airbox or pipe above the throttle body so you can see the throttle plate. Since you're putting a turbo on, you've probably done this already. You'll see a small port on the atmospheric side of the throttle plate. This is the inlet for the IAC valve. If the IAC valve is doing its job, this port should be closed and you should not be able to feel any substantial amount of vacuum after putting your finger over it. If the IAC valve is open, you will hear a loud hissing (as opposed the quiet hissing of air bypassing the throttle plate) and you will be able to feel suction from this port. If this is the case, you probably have a dead IAC valve.
