ok here's the story...
the other day i hop in my car to head to work and it started but sounded like a lawnmower. the car did that sometimes when it rained but would work itself out if i drove around the block so i did so and the car would not get up to 20 mph to save its life. husband takes a listen and says only two cylinders are firing. so he checks all the plugs and wires, they are fine. so he says its the coil pack (which we knew was going anyway). so he takes off the coils and icm and finds water was getting between the icm and the block and that there is a crack in the icm. needless to say we go and buy a new one. puts it in and now the car has no spark whatsoever. he took it back out and returned it got another one and the same thing. so he changed the wires and the plugs, and still nothing. all the connectors seem to be fine. he has quadruple checked the firing order. each time he tries to start the car he checks the plugs for wetness. anyone else have any ideas?
In the 2.4l I would blame the coil cover, in your case not sure but check and make sure the ICM is geting current.
what is ICM
maybe it was that water in the ICM. whatever ICM means.
any suggestions as to what wires should be tested first?
did you replace the coil packs too?
if it "worked" before you changed the icm, i would check fuses also.
yeah the coil packs are new as well. we're picking up a new code reader today so hopefully something shows up on that...
is the ground wire on the coil pack connected to the IDI cover?
