STEERING COLUMN?
Monday, December 31, 2007 1:30 PM
Hello Everyone,

I have a 1995 2.2L cavalier that im taking a STEERING COLUMN out of and im installing it in a 1996 cavalier 2.2L, Is this possible or will it not work since its a 1995 but I heard parts from 1995-99 works.

I just have a few other questions also, If one of them had Tilt Steering would this still be possible to install cause I like tilt steering, So the question is if the 1995 cavalier has tilt steering and the 1996 doesnt is that an option that I can get to work. Thank's in advance for reading my post I really appreciate everyones help, This is the best forum for advice.

John when you say swap the works what exactly do you mean like all the plug & play stuff etc..?

Swap the whole column, it'll bolt in fine. The lock cylinder changed between 95 and 96 (and is different from manual to automatic as well), but you'd be swapping that I assume. The upper shaft and jacket changed from 95 to 96 as well, but if you're swapping the whole column it'll be ok.

You can swap the tilt column for a non-tilt column, no problem.
