high and low beams on at the same time. HELP!! PLZ!!
Sunday, December 23, 2007 10:41 AM
Hi, I have a 1997 z24 and I noticed the today that when I turn on my low beams it goes on bright (like ther suppose to be) on the passenger side and on the driver side its very dark (almost not on). Also when my low beams are on the high are also on but not bright. Whenever I turn on the high beams it goes on correctly on the pass side and the low beams are still on but not bright. On the drivers side there is no diference,

RECAP: when low beams on:
-pass side low: OK (working correctly)
-pass side high: on but not bright
-driver side low and high: on at the same brightness (very low)
when high beams on:
-pass side low: on but not bright
-pass side high: OK (working correctly)
-driver side low and high: on at the same brightness (very low)

Please any help would be appreciated thx in advance

If there's no difference in the driver's side... then likely one of the the driver's side bulbs is burned out. Change it, and it should work properly again. To check for sure, try it with your ebrake up... or the car not running (so the Daytime Running Lights aren't on). If the lows or highs don't come on on each sides, a bulb is shot.

If all four bulbs are all coming on, just not together properly.... could be the DRL relay or the headlight switch itself.

Lenko pretty much summed it all up for you. The best case scenario is what Lenko described as one of the bulbs being burnt. You're only looking at no more than $9.99 a bulb if that... There is no quick fix. Grit you teeth and go get your hands dirty.

Check your bulbs I have had the same problem in the wifes old alero where the lligths were acting up and it turned out to be a Headlight bulb that was burnt out. Changed the bulb and it all went away and worked great.
