My ignition lock needs to be replaced and I got no money to take it to the dealer. So as a quick fix I want to rig my ignition wires to to start the car, and install a push button switch. The only problem is I need to unlock the steering wheel. Does anyone know how to unlock the steering wheel, in other words, take out that theft feature where the steering wheel locks when the ignition is off.I dont care if I have to break something I just need to drive. The dealer wants 700 to replace my ignition lock and im not ready to go that route yet.
Well, it's not like that lock is really going to help, given that most if not all car thieves already know how to bypass it!

can you turn your ignition on? put it to "start" with the brake on, that should do it.
if thats not the problem, then im sorry i couldnt help.
you change change the cyl yourself its super easy. put key to run, use flathead on tab, pull out old cyl insert new

you can break it but you'll have a broken steering column...lol, thats what most thieves do...

steering column? not sure. i never had that problem. once in a while it would act up, but never lock like that.
