P0130 Circuit Closed Loop (CL)
Tuesday, November 20, 2007 10:26 AM
Hey, I keep throwing this freakin P0130 code and do not know why, and it throws my car into limp mode.. I have replaced this exhaust mani sensor(bank 1) two times.. When I check the code with my scan tool is says "O2 sensor MALFUNCTION". What is the problem? The sensor is down stream like 2" from my AEM WB..

Now ill admit im running a bit rich at WOT, like 11"s Could that be the only problem? I dont think a couple weeks of driving the car, and not even every day will foul out my sensor in so short of time..

Please, any help would be great..

No suggestions? Other than replacing me sensor again?

besides replacing the sensor again, I would verify the wiring is good.

This code is "HO2S Circuit Closed Loop (CL) Performance Bank 1 sensor 1". I have recently got this code, but it was because I had put my ECU in open loop while tuning. I'm not so sure you have a O2 sensor problem.

Hmm so what do you suggest do John? Because im not sure what my ECU was in when tuning... What SHOULD it be in so I can very with WHININZ?

Thanks.

I'm qouting Shifted's direction for VE tuning (part of them anyway).

Quote:

Preparation
There are a number of steps you need to do to prepare for this. These must be done for the tuning to work accurately.

1. Turn off Closed Loop operation
a) To do this, open your current calibration file in the HPT Editor.
b) Go to Engine>Fuel Control>Open & Closed Loop
c) Open the ECT vs Startup ECT table
d) Set all the cells to 255

2. Set the target AFR
a) Go to Engine>Fuel Control>Power Enrich
b) Click on the Base AFR vs ECT
c) Set your desired AFR at each particular ECT.
d) Open the Mult vs RPM and set the multiplier for each RPM to hit the target AFR in that RPM cell
3) Turn off any injector pulsewidth modifications
a) Go to Engine>Fuel Control>General Fuel
b) Click on the IPW Multiplier vs RPM table
c) Set the entire table to 1.0
4) Make sure your injector constant is correct and working as desired
5) Save this file as VETuningCLDisabled.hpt (or whatever you want, just don't overwrite your working tune).
6) Go flash this file on to your car.

When I did this on my car. I left it in open loop for about a week (I usually do not drive my car everyday), it would throw that same code. I assume this is because the ECU knew it was not going into closed loop. Since returning that portion of my tuning (or ECU programing) back to stock I have not got it back. I'm wondering if for some reason your car is not going into closed loop and throwing this code. Not sure if that helps any or not.

I know whats going on David, nothing to worry about. Just clear it up, its because I still have the car in open loop mode. I didn't know you were planning on driving alot, so I left it be. I can come change it so it goes into closed loop when it heats up...

Bringing this back...

I put my lsj injectors in with my ld9 sc kit a while ago, got the injector constant right but couldnt do any ve tuning due to a problem we were having but the afr's looked good anyways. We also fooled with some open-closed loop settings and other things, dont exactly remember right as its my buddies hpt. Not much longer I got the P0130 code so replaced the sensor, then it came back and I replaced the sensor again and it still came back. I also have P0132 which is pretty much the same code for the bank 1 sensor.

I also pulled the sc to diagnose other problems I was having, and it still came back even with the stock injectors back in. Does this sound like closed loop was disabled?

Yes it does. Need to get HPT back and verify what is on the car.
