Head Gasket, cylinders 2 and 3

Hi, John Lenko

My 1993 2.2 Cav, having just passed 253,500 kms developed a rough idle.

Compression test revealed 1-150,2-75, 3-70,4-175

I thought at first valves, springs or piston rings but

No white smoke, coolant in oil.

I wondered if it was possibly a damaged gasket between cylinders 2 and 3-impossible- but no your post says it CAN

happen

Really, just to says thanks for the info

I would first pull the spark plugs see if you got any kinda coolant deposites on youre plugs, Could have a tiny hole in the hd gasket. Are you losing coolant?.

Good Luck.

Hi Rich

all spark plugs are a perfect colour-no deposits-no coolant loss

Could also have a part of the head gasket thats got a leak some where. Or intake leak.

I realise this is "Old" by now but in case anyone has a similar problem.

Just an update, removed the cylinder head and took it to the local friendly machine shop.

Head was cracked and replaced,

Runs on all four again now
