hey guys i have recently noticed that when i turn my car off or when its off it shows i have just over half a tank of gas but when i tap the cluster the gauge goes down to half a tank and its always moving around on hilly streets. oh and my spedometer bounces around too.
by the way i drive a 1999 4dr chevy cavalier
Does this mean my cluster is broken or is my gauge suppose to read half a tank when off??
i know mine drops to empty when i shut the car off.
could be a bad cluster, or maybe a loose connection to the cluster
at least yours gages work....lol i just bohgt a z24 and the only thing that works is my gas gage.....nothing else works
so guys i just stopped by another 4dr cav just like mine at school and took a look inside and their gas gauge was just over 3/4 of a tank so does that mean its normal for mine to do this?. or is theres broken too.
Also if i bang on the top of the cluster the gauge will go down to about half tank.
the odometer on my 04 is going wonky. Some of the numbers light, or partially light, some dont, all randon. Then they will all be working, then back to partial.

the only thing that i can say. is possibly that the gauge needles possibly i wanna say like arent sitting right. because i know i have a 2002, and you arent suppose to take the needles at. but i know the one time i didnt put the needle back to empty on my gas gauge andi had it at 1/4 tank. and it stayed there til i manually moved it down with my finger. so maybe that happend to yours. i ha ve a 98 z and i think my gas gauge stays where its at and doesnt go to empty when i shut my car off. but im about to leave to go out, so i will let you know if it does or doesnt. i have a feeling that it might have jumped. if i read the posts correctly
so its down past half a tank right now and it shows pretty much whats in the tank while my car is off i will get some pics!!! soon so i can visually explain whats happening
does this pic work or not because ive never put pics on this site before and let me know if u think its broken
My gf has a 1999, the fuel gauge seems to be correct while the car is on, when she turns it off it sometimes goes down by 1/4 of a tank or so. As soon as she turns the power back on, it goes back to normal. As fuel sloshes around in the tank (i.e. on hilly streets or during sharp turns), the fuel level will fluctuate.

oh yeah, well 15 bucks gets me a tank and a half. it just got so bad that now its blocking my temp gauge. im just gonna buy all new gauges and make a custom cluster someday. thats the only real fix i can think of. but when its work right it goes down past E when the cars off. so ya know. it gives the car character! lol

Listen F***ers. FASTERTHANAHONDA is a joke because I WORK FOR HONDA. I'll talk @!#$ about Fords to, that doesn't mean I can beat a 12 second mustang.
hey guys ever since i installed my cd player and speakers the spedometer bounces with the beat of the song. What could be making this happen??
