On my silver cav I could very easily with the key turned but the car not running
On my newer cav I can't under the same circumstances.
Are you supposed to be able to hear it?
I can on my '03 but its a pretty quiet hum. I usually have my door open when I'm priming the system after changing the fuel filter so I can hear it, but i have no doubt that with the door closed or the fan on low or something, i wouldn't be able to hear it.

i can hear mine on my 98 but it has to be really quite out. the slightest noise and i wont be able to hear it.
I have my fan hardwired, and have a straight exhaust with stock cat and cherrybomb for a resonator, and I can hear my fuel pump from inside the car with the car running.
