my coolant light keeps coming on on my gauges, it sits there for a minute or so then turns off...
i know this means "low coolant level" but i just topped it off about a week ago... and the level seems fine, though GM needs to use a plastic you can see through so you can read the coolant level where it says full... but thats another rant
could it be my water pump going bad?
any ideas?
car runs at 195degrees and sometimes goes to the 225 ish mark... but rarely.
i run it hard sometimes, but not all the time, and i drive to about 70mph per day highway traveling.
thoughts?

or just dirty, drain the reservoir, pull the sensor, clean it, and try it again. if that doesnt fix it, replace teh sensor.

if its not the sensor, could it also be the water pump? im going to have at it this weekend, it usually occurs when im accelerating from a dig to about 50mph, i run it to about 3700rpms and then the light comes on. ill clean the sensor and try that first though
My light comes on if the res. cap is a bit loose. Odd, but maybe try tightening that up good?
i just replaced it, but ill try and tighten it up... my other one dry rotted. probably the source of wherre this issue came from
If something was wrong with the water pump, you would be:
A: Leaking a good deal of water thru the water pump
B: hear a real disconcerting rattle that's NOT the Getrag rattle
C: Have probems with overheating (as in needle pegs the H or the 260 or the RED AREA) almost immediately after engine warmup

alright then lol its not the water pump. haha i think im going to drain and flush the coolant and then see how that goes. thanks guys!
My car started showing me the dash coolant light intermittently -- though it was actually requiring a top-up each time. Turns out I was losing about a litre of coolant a week through the head gasket, externally by the front of the engine near the alternator. I'm hoping it stays out of the cylinders long enough for me to save up to fix it.
