Ok...i just got a set of E3 spark plugs (part # E3.66) from JC Whitney. Ordered a set specifically for my 04 cavalier ecotec. I took em out of the box n compared them to the OEM plugs...the E3 are much longer (from seat to top of ground electrode)...around .130 longer actually. Im guessing this is enough difference to cause some piston damage, or is it? Has anyone else used E3 plugs in thier ecotec...and what part number did you use?

actually i was thinkin since im losing so much on shipping, i paid for them to come to me, now i have to pay to return them, i may go with a cheaper plug like autolite or NGK. I know a guy whos got a mid 12 sec T/A who swears by regular autolite spark plugs, he just changes them fairly frequently. Well if i change them once a year it may only be 8-12K miles, now that im not workin where i was before, driving 100+ miles a day. Im in town now, short drive.

you might want to go with OEM ACdelco, or go for the NGK. personal opinion, stay way from autolite-ive seen too many crack and stay away from bosch--they suck period lol. i was talking to an instructor at school that has mainly ASE's in engine electric/car electric, he told me i should stay with delco or ngk on my 2003 cav.
Silly ricer, useless wings are for penguins.
shouldn't be an issue. If you do a search Hypsy (Team Vision) showed a couple spark plugs in the head and how far they went into the area just above the combustion chamber, you shouldn't have a problem with .130 inches difference.
Let us know how they do.

HAHA..oh well...i put em in the mail goin back to JC Whitney for a refund about 7 hours before you posted. Cant find any place that stocks the cheaper NGK plugs, so im gonna hit autozone for some acdelcos. Funny now most places are showing an acdelco iridium plug (#41-105) as the factory reccomended replacement instead of the platinum plug the car came with (#41-981). Also kinda funny is the price of precious metals has climbed t the point where the iridium plugs are cheaper than the platinum, $6.99 vs $9.98.

That is interesting...
On a side note, the stock plugs on a Honda Civic are NGK. They must be pretty good, then.

I also found out that the only ac delco spark plugs that you can buy are the irridium one and that not even the ac delco website carries the platium for the ecotec. The irridium spark plugs are working just fine for me.
