I recently obtained a 1999 Sunfire with the 2200 engine in it. I had some rattling noises coming from under the hood, and found out it was the serpentine belt tensioner pulley going out. I was wondering if anyone had any step by step tips on the easiest way to replace it, since it does not look like an easy job. Thanks!
If you have the means to loosen the mounts and safely raise the
engine for clearance, yes, you the tensioner replacement is
feasable for a home mechanic....
There is also a special tool that hooks to the top of the passenger
side spring tower and drops down to hook and lift the engine, but
I have not seen one, just heard about it...
