Alright im looking at a 96 Sunfire GT the owner recently replaced the motor with a junk yard one but kept the org. tranny (its the 4 spd). He said that now the tranny slips for some reason and that "The transmission is slipping after the new engine installation I was told by two mechanics that it was most commonly caused by a faulty or miss adjusted shifter linkage." Is this true? if some how do you adjust the linkage?
The 4t40e is the transmission model on this car and it is tricky to check the tranny oil level, because there is no dipstick. Low tranny fluid is the most common cause of slippage so IŽll suggest a check of tranny fluid level by the way this should be on transmission forum where you will find the how to check tranny oil level.
Could also be a faulty lockup solenoid.
