Hey there guys,.. I was wondering if someone could help me,.. My sisters 2000 sunfire with a 2.2 is overheating... it overheats within 1 min or driving. Although there is no heat until it reaches the redline. I just changed the head gasket and thermostat, it still over heats. I ran water through the system to make sure there were no blocks,. seems alright. oh yeah it goes through coolant too,. without leaking any where.
Maybe the headgasket again? Do you have white smoke out the exhaust? And youre sure it was full 100% after changing everything?
While its running with the hood up do you see steam comming from anywhere? -- It happened to my brothers taurus, he originally had a bad water pump, then had a leak after we replaced the pump. It was a small crack in the heater line where it would only blow steam. It was hard to find because it wouldnt drip or leave anything underneath the car.

well I did see a little bit of steam by the exhaust manifold, but I figured that was from the block drain,.. the coolant that was on the engine still. I have to take a look at it again tomorrow,.. I think there might be a crack in the head. I m hoping not, but I guess we'll see.
did you work all of the air out of the system before you started driving it?
don't really know brother, good luck though
Maybe you have a pocket of air in the heater core circuit. When your car is completely cold, take off the rad cap, turn your heat on with the temp control set to hot, and let the engine idle. Hopefully your car will burp out any air pockets. Be sure to replace coolant that has boiled off.
