2.4 Coil Pack...weird problem
Monday, October 29, 2007 6:29 PM
So I was on my way home from NC today when my car screwed up. It sounds like a lawn mower and feels like it's only running on like two cylinders. I have had ignition coil problems with this car from day one. I've replace the ignition coil cover (the black OR white plastic piece) so many times that I've lost count, plus I've replaced EVERYTHING attached to the IDI cover, incuding the IDI cover and the coil packs. This time, I believe that it's the coil packs again. So, I went to Advance Auto and got new coil packs and came home and took the old ones out and could NOT get the coil harness to plug back into the new coil packs. I couldn't figure out why it was being so difficult until I compared the plugs on the new coil packs to the old coil packs. Totally different plugs. So I called Advanced to tell them that they gave me the wrong part, but they say that the part they gave me is the right one and is the only one listed for a 2000 2.4L (GC414 is the part #). Either way, the coil harness won't work with these coil packs, so either I have had the wrong setup in the car (somehow?!?!) or they don't have the right part listed for my car.

I took pictures and I'm hoping that someone can tell me which coil pack is the CORRECT one for my car. I tried searching for pics, but had no luck. Any help would be appreciated so that I can figure out what the heck is going on.

Actually, it was the ignition module. Of course, it's something expensive. But it's fixed.
