For a few months now my Check Engine light has been on for my cataylatic converter. A couple weeks ago on my way home from work my car started running like crap, so I assumed the converter finally plugged off. I replaced the converter with a new direct fit and that didn't help at all. I had a misfire on cylinder #3. Turned out to be one of my coil packs, which I just replaced both of them in January, needless to say I was quite pissed off that one had gone bad already. So afterwards the car ran great for a whole day! Check engine came back on and came up with Code P1133, oygen sensor in the exhuast manifold. I was going to wait a few days before I could replace it because I've been broke lately. The day before I was going to replace the O2 sensor the light went off and all seems preety decent except for one annoying problem: When your cruising along and you start to slow down to make a turn or whatever the tachometer will start to bounce back and forth between 800RPM and 1400RPM. I can feel the pulsating in the engine as the car slows down, its like it has a freakin' heartbeat! I know Chevy has always said that they are the Heartbeat of America, but I never thought they meant it literally! But anyways, as the car slows down, the pulsating does to, and when you come to a complete stop, it doesn't do it at all, idles just fine. Only time it seems to do it bad is as soon as I touch the brakes. I have no clue to what it is. It doesn't misfire, and runs like a champ. The car is a 97 Z24 with 85k and an auto tranny(unfornantely). Thanks in advance if anyone might be able to help, and sorry for the long post.

The coil housing is the part thatīs usually guilty.
I figured out what the problem was..the TB was pretty dirty and sticky. Went and bought a can of STP TB cleaner and sprayed the living hell out of it and cleaned everything up real good. Also replaced the air filter and dumped a bottle of Lucas injector cleaner in. It seems to have made the problem completly disapper, so thanks for the info anyways. I guess I'm guilty of not using SEARCH before I post....my bad.
