I was running some errands this morning after work, stopped at a stop light and the engine died, but started right back up. I came home, parked the car,was going to leave it sit and take my old ford truck to finish errands, but said forget it and took the car. The car ran fine, did not die any more, and good idle and same power as before. no check engine light or other warning lights are on,temp gauge is where it always is. was this a fluke one time thing,or should i be worried something serious is wrong? 1999 cavalier auto trans 2.2 engine
doesnt really sound like anything too troubling to worry about. if it happens again soon id start to question it.
could be so many things. what's your mileage? could be all your car needs a simple tune up. if it starts happening more frequently then you can narrow down the problem.
keep the thought of the tps sensor in the back of your mind if it happens again i had this problem just once at first and maybe 6 months later it came back and didn't go away till i replaced the sensor
thanks for the replies. the car has 125,000 miles. I drove it to a town about 30 miles away and back this evening, and it ran good as it ever has. I will keep the tps in mind. A friend has owned this car for 6 years, and then she sold it to me. I have been doing all the maintainance on the car,and I am pretty sure all the sensors are original.
