Fuel filter fittings rusted
Saturday, October 13, 2007 4:26 PM
I like to change the fuel filter on my 2000 Cavalier. But the fittings are rusted and I cannot figure out how to get the hose coming from the fuel tank off. It looks like one ball of rust. Any ideas?

there are two ways you can do it.
1. Go to napa or autozone or advance and buy the fuel filter remover tool.
or 2. you can take a plumbers pipe cutter and cut the fitting below the 90* gooseneck, and remove it that way, take a piece of 3/8" fuel line tubing and clamp it down on both sides and throw away the plastic fitting on the new filter. <-- i did that one because the tool didn't work because it was so rusted. and i havn't had a problem yet. i actually found that it was so rediculously dirty in there, thank god i changed it.
