I have a 99 cavy 2.4 the head gasket went nd antifreeze leaked out ,i got it fixed but when at running temp and i turn the car off antifreeze pours out of the overflow tube what could it be?
The GM systems are bad for that. I have to keep my level lower than the cold fill line by a touch, or else anything above that will just be expelled via the overflow (I am however, running a turbo with built motor, so my operating temperatures will be somewhat higher than yours). One area to check though is the reservoir cap. If you can, perform a pressure test on it to verify that it is in fact still within the correct PSI range. The caps are cheap enough that it might even just be a better idea to go grab a new one and throw it on there. Aside from that, fill the reservoir to the cold fill line, drive the car for a decent while, then let it expel. Leave the level at that. Go drive again, and when you return, check to see that the level has remained constant, and as long as that level is not absurdly low, you are not overheating, and the coolant level sensor is not tripping the dash warning light, leave the level at that.
