I have an 02 sunfire with a 2200 4 speed auto 4 door
Before the winter sets in I want to fix a few nagging things but haynes is not specific about locations in my year
for the evap canister and solonoid , where exactly is it forward of the gas tank or in one of the wheel wells and how do I check if the wiring harness is pooched, or should I get one from a junk yard and just replace it.
wheel sensor for the abs on the front right hand side , again , how do I check to see if the wiring harness or wire is bad and how far up from the connection at the wheel to where ever it goes to , does the wire extend.
What do they call a distributor cap now for the 2200 , a coil pack ?
When replacing an o2 sensor , are both the upstream and downstream sensors replaced , or just the one
And last , what would anyone recomend for a tune up for a car with 175 k beyond , plugs , wires and checking fluid levels.

I don't think your car even comes with a charchaol canister, I know I never found one on my car. Either way.. it's not something you need to worry about. I don't know what this solinoid is that your talking about.
As for the ABS sensor.. just make sure it's clean.. then visually check the wires and sensor for damage. If If everything looks OK and your ABS light is on, either something is unplugged or a sensor is bad.
You don't have a distributer on your car at all. You have a a dual coil pack setup on your car, and if your car is running OK there's no reason to replace the coils.
You have two O2 (Oxygen) sensors on your car. One is in the manifold, and the other is after the cat (catylitic converter). If your car is running OK, and your CEL (check engine light), isn't on, then just leave them. It will cost you over $200 to replace them both, and if there not bad, it won't make a difference. The only one that you actually need to replace when it goes bad is the one in the manifold, the one after the cat doesn't effect how the car runs, it's just there to make sure the cat is working.
As for a "tuneup"
You should check your levels every time you get gas as a minimum.. it's not something that you do during a tune up. To be honest... the only thing you need to do for a tune up would be replacing the air filter, plugs, and wires. The word "tune up", really applies to older cars and isn't valid for newer ones like ours anymore.
Basically, check your fluid levels regularly, change your oil and filters when you should, and don't fix what isn't broken.

Okay the check engine light is on and the code its returning is a P0440 Evaporative Emission (EVAP) System,from reading on the forum it has to do with something on the evap canninster, and that the gas purge solonoid is now probably frozen in the open position. While the code is supposed to be a generic code for a leak in the system , a bad wiring harness has been known to cause the cel light to come on.

I lumped these two together as I got the same ansewer from someone else earlier today , so i can strike those from the list.
