When did you replace your fuel pump on your L61?
Saturday, August 18, 2007 8:30 AM
So I did a quick google search and it looks like a fair number of people are having issues with their fuel pumps around 60-80k miles. Replacement on mine:

80,000 miles

Cost: $950

Anyone else?

I had to have my pump replaced at around 80k, mine is the 2200, not an Ecotec, but I believe its the same pump. And my sisters '00 2200 (same as mine) her fuel pump went out the same day mine did, she had something like 65k miles.

The gas is what keeps the fuel pump cool. Running low all the time, causes the pump have more heat and the fuel pump doesnt like to run hot.

i have 45,000, original fuel pump, changed filter once so car

geeze.... that's a lot for a fuel pump.

A new pump/sending unit is only around $250. If you just want a pump, that's even cheaper. Hell, I just grabbed a fuel pump/sending unit from a junkyard this past weekend for $40. Took more time to drive the 25 miles to the yard than it did to pull the pump.

It's a simple procedure, and shouldn't take more than 2-3 hours at most. I'd advise doing it on your own if you can. It only requires basic tools.
