Ok, well i have a cylinder 3 misfire and i know its not the plug, and i know the coil pack(s) are behind the motor (brilliant place for them)
my question is, do i have to take the intake manifold out to get to those suckers (i am not sure if its the wires or the packs to be honest, but either way, i need to get back there)
if thats the case, what do i need to unscrew exactly to get back there, like what can i leave on? i want to remove as little as possible to get to these things to prevent unnecessary work and possible problems
thanks guys
thats exactly how it looks on the back of the engine. if you're laying under the car, looking straight up at the bottom of the intake manifold, they're right there. very easy to get to.

that is a very helpful diagram
the only issue i have, is that when i am under the car and i look up, i get a face full of auto tranny
there is a little bit of space between the motor and tranny but there is also other stuff in the way and its really not enough space
I had a similar problem with my 94 cavalier 2.2 L.
It was the plug wires. I recommend replacement with AC Delco, some of the aftermarket plug wires are garbage (as also learned while I had this vehicle).
From my understanding your car will not run at all when a coil pack goes.
Best of luck.
rich helped me out tremendously on aim through this grueling 5 hour project lol
it turns out it was a coil pack, as i replaced those with rich's guidance and all is well
i tried the plug wires first, to see if that would work, and it didnt
you are partially correct andrew
the car wouldnt start if the ICM doesnt work, which is the ignition module that the coil packs attach to
but thankfully that wasnt the case as that is a much more expensive part to replace
thanks again rich for your help
