Well I have a 97 cavalier on air ride fbss and I have never had any problems till this summer when I bent the pinch in the front fender well and now I have been throwing half shafts like none other. Has anyone ever had this problem????? Or anyone have any ideas to correct it? Please let me know. thanks

so you bent the fender lip and its causing your shafts to go?

im guessing your riding around too low causing too much pressure on your cv joint, causing it to go bad.

naww not the fender lip when you lay it out the tire will sit on the inner pinch rail that runs around the strut tower so I decided to bend the pinch to get a little more of a drop and now I have been going through half shafts. That was my guess to just I have no clue how to solve the problem.

Is it just me, or does anyone else not have a clue about what he's talking about?

Pinch rail around the strut tower? WTF.

Did you bend something in you fenderwell or part of your suspension? Remove a wheel and post a pic or something.

Maybee what ever you did to make the car drop farther is just too much for your axle shafts to handle.

Sorry I don’t know what to call it exactly. Anyone who has a bagged cavalier would know what im talking about if they ever went and looked around in the wheel wells to find out what stopped the car from laying out completely. Which would be what im talking about. Sorry I don’t know the technical name for a piece of metal but all I know is I bent it so I could get an extra half inch of clearance and now im throwing half shafts I didn’t come on here to get ragged for not knowing a name of a piece of metal. I came on here hoping someone would help me with a solution of my half shaft delema

i had a bagged cavalier and im very familair with bagged suspensions on these cars and i never heard of this. yes i know people have a problem laying out in the front but im not sure what your talking about still. ive seen people hack away alot of the front end to lay lower.

like i said i still dont think whatever you bent is causing your problem. again as mentioned i think your riding around too low causing too much stress on the front end

i think i know what he means. i believe hes referring to the "seams" in the fender wells. as you can tell i dont know the proper term either, lol.

like if you pop the car up and look in the wells, instead of them being flat, theres the part that "folds down"

still not making sense....but either way, like Mike said, I dont see how this could be causing your problem. unless that little extra clearance allows the fender wells to not actually sit on the tire and the car is then "floating"

What psi are you riding at in the front I ride around at anywhere from 0-40 and have never had a problem other than tires rubbing a little

He rolled his inner fender wells.. lol.. And yeah, you're driving way too low.. The pencil thin axle shafts aren't made for that kind of stress..

^^^ I was assuming he rolled his fenders, but gave him the benifate of the doubt that he meant something else.

Most people I know with bagged cars drive around with them all the way up. You can lower them a bit or play with you switches when moving at in town speeds, but when your just driving somewhere, raise the dang thing all the way up and leave it there. Even fully inflated the car still looks lowered. YOUR JUST RIDING TOO DANG LOW.. THERE'S NO REASON FOR IT.

Theres also no reason to drive with it all the way up because the ride once your over a certain psi is harsh as hell, unless you like really really really bouncy, driving with is lowered isnt a big deal, just dont drive everywhere you go with 10 pounds in each bag, thats where your problem lies
