Hey guys,
I did a search and I came up with some information on this. It seems alot of people have had this problem before. Im wondering if anyone found a fix.
My car is a 2003 ecotec 5-speed. No mods, and there is no code thrown when this happens.
Basically, when im comming up to a stop light and I push in the clutch the cars idle drops past 800-1000 rpms where its supposed to be and falls straight to zero and stalls out. Its like the car doesnt catch the idle as it falls.
2 things im going to check are:
1) IAC sensor, clean TB and IAC "hole".
if that doesnt work:
2) take it to the dealer and ask them to re-flash the ecu with TSB# 04-06-04-063. (according to some posts this is an ecu re-call)
Im wondering if anyone else has a recommendation OR had this problem and knows how to fix it.

It sounds like your on the right track so far, but I doubt it's the ECM.
btw the IAC isn't a sensor.

when I had my 03 I got a recall notice for that exact problem.

Yeah, im not going to rule anything out. I think ill call the dealership monday and get the reflah based on the recall # above.

I've had mine reflashed twice. It still does it all the time. I've been on the dealership to fix it since I got the car over 3 years ago. They basically told me they couldn't fix it cause there is nothing wrong. It seems to get worse with time, cause now mine will start to stall out at random times when idling, like siting at a stoplight.
I've asked around to lots of other technitians (not at a GM dealership), and they all seem to say it sounds like a crank sensor.
I have an 04 eco (Sunfire)
I'm out of the warranty period.
How much should a dealer charge to flash the ecu?
How much to fix the IAC?

I have the same problem. I've cleaned the IAC, throttle body, and it's still acting up. Let me know if you get yours fixed, and what it is.
hey when did these idle problems start up on your eco's? i own a 2003 cavie so im just curios if i need to be worried

alright, did a little searching this morning.
the '03's have a problem with the fuel pump. the connectors inside the tank get hot and melt. the fix is to replace the whole pump.
I also found that it might be caused by a bad crank position sensor.
