do they make a dual fan upgrade up for a 96 2.2 cav??

wondering if anyone knows of a dual fan upgrade for a 96 2.2 cav. thanks. the reason is fan works properly but temp gauge still goes almost to the red before it kicks on, when it kicks on it drops down a bit to above normal then starts to climb again.

Why don't you just hard-wire the stock fan, or do the same for an aftermarket fan?

You should be able to make anything work if your good at wiring and making brackets, but here's a better idea.

I'm actually looking into this myself. Find out wich wire the relay interupts for the fan, than wire in your own switch that will bypass the realy and force the fan on whenever you want, but won't keep the fan from operating normally when the switch is off.

I'd fix the problem instead of adding band-aids...
The problem is not the single stock fan, seeing as pretty much everyone else still has the same, with no problems. It sounds like you may have a dieing coolant temp sensor.

The temp sensor would usually set a code, but I agree with OHV notec. The stock fan is perfectly capable of cooling these cars, even with boost. If it hasn't been done within the last couple years, I'd also see about flushing the cooling system just in case.

Ill start with the basics, thermo, flush and the temp sending unit. someone once said something about a pcm?

If your fan is coming on, its likely NOT the PCM, its more likely the sensor sending bad signals to it, hence the PCM isn't turning the fan on when it should.

thanks for the help. did a flush on the system today, still the same...it needed it anyways. Thermostat seems to be working fine, ive checked for cold hoses after about 10 mins and all the hoses feel hot. I pretty much know its the fan because when the fan works it doesnt overheat. Its just sometimes the fan dont come on untill it almost reaches the red then it only stays on till it goes down a little ways, turns off and it starts to climb again. So today im going to do the temp sending unit and see if like what you said its sending it false signals.

You could swap the thermostat with one with a lower temp opening, read somewhere the oem is 180º get one with 150 or 160º, btw check the connector to the cooling fan for corrosion and change it if needed.
