Hey guys, Just noticed this weird sound coming from my 2.4 the other day......
It is sort of a rattling or vibration noise....
It happens at any speed / any gear when giving it gas...
As soon as you let off the gas the noise stops...Give it gas, its back.....
It doesn't happen at idle, Only about 1500rpm or so.....
Makes the same noise when cornering......
I checked my oil, It was a little low so I topped that up....
I really dont have a clue here guys so help is really appreciated...
Thanks in advance.....
Can you tell what part of the car it's coming from. Sometimes a loose exaust can to that. The only engine related thing I can think of right now is the timing chain, but I doubt thats what is making the noise.
I dont think it is coming from under the hood....
When I lifted the hood and pulled the throttle cable it didnt seem as loud as when I was in the car....I will get someone to step on the gas today and I will take a walk around and try to get a better idea of where its coming from...
Hmm....Exhaust Leak??
Something else I just noticed.....
You can sit there with the car in neutral, And rev it up slowly all the way to 4,000rpm and there is no noise...
But if you give it a quick little shot of gas even to only 2,000 or 2,500rpm the noise is easily noticeable....
If that helps....

Thats actually what it sounds like...
Checked all heat sheilds though and everything seemed tight...
I guess I'll just take it into a shop Tuesday....I hope its a heat shield and not the timing chain.....
Hopefully it wont do any damage driving it....
I have the same problem.. im curious on the turnout?
Belt tensioner sometimes makes a rattle when you step on the gas, since it is close to the timing chain cover it may be wise to check.
Could it be a engine/tranny mount that's shot? Since it only happens when you step on it..

Problem is exhaust leak at the manifold....
Its probably an exhaust leak either at the manifold or the somewhere near the muffler its happened to me about 3 times
