This is odd but here we go...I have an 03 sedan and the the third knob on the right on the heater control is giving me problems. It is stuck on the positioon where it is blowing out of the vents and your feet. If you move it to another position the knob springs right back to that position. What could be the problem? Is it the heater control unit or the air box under the dash? Thanks for any help.
i've had the same problem for a year now, i heard its the cable at the back of the HVAC knob that kinks on itself. still lookin for a fix. but what i do is reach under and move the lever the cable is attached to left or right, it works most of the time

If it is cable drivin (I don't remember for sure but I'll take you guys word for it). There is usually a clamp or mounting location of some kind under the dash the holds the cable still, if that comes loose, it will cause that problem. I had it happen on a few car before.
Think bicycle hand brake, and you'll know what I mean.
