ok so my cars being really @!#$ annoying and embarrassing to drive right now... im pretty sure its my front brake pads that need to be replaced but id thought id post on here to make sure... its making a really high pitched squeeling sound when i brake, but it also does it when my wheel is turned to the left, not the right though.... any suggestions on that? also i just removed the tire and checked out the pads and theres still a good amount left on there... please help me out... its so embarrasing driving a nice car that squeeks lol
o yeah its a 96 chevy cavy 2.2 non eco 5speed
Sounds like the indicator,that's the metal piece attached to the pad,when it wears to a certain point it will squeak/squeal.Change pads or bend that tab out a little.Check your rotors for grooves and uneven wear.

in regards to the brakes making noises when you turn the wheel one way but not making noise when you turn the other way, i would check both calipers, perhaps one of them is sticking and is causing uneven wear. generally constant squealing and/or chirping brakes while you press the pedal are your wear indicators telling you that you're low. if you are unsure go a professional mechanic as soon as you can. remember, these are your front brakes and they do 75% of the braking. if they're not working well you're risking the safety of yourself and others.
