Yes I searched

Ok, I am doing an odd little motor swap.
A 2.3 HO into a GEO. (amazingly yes they do bolt up tot he transmission, but that is a 4 page long explination)
I have decided (for my own wierd reasons) to use a coil pack set up over the stock IDI cover. The 98+ 2.2 is supposta be a direct swap in. 2.2 swap. I have the coils and ignition module. I also have the wiring to them. However I am finding the Quad harness has more wires that are not on the 2.2 plug. (10 on the Q4 and onlt 8 on the 2.2)
The Q4 motor is a 1992 if it makes any difference. I do not have the wiring diagrams or anything for the 2.2 as yet. So I was expecting it to be a straight forward splice in.
And if it matters, I am running the motor on a Megasquirt 2.2 as a full standalone.

I tried multiple searches which let to either tons of useless posts, or no results at all.
Thanks for any and all help guys.

I think I'm missing the actual question in there...

I am looking for the 2.2 ignition wire color codes. I managed to get most of it figured out.
I am both VERY new to the Quad 4 motor, and to Megasquirt. The IDI system is faulty. I used this as a chance to convert to coil packs. After doing some research, and lots and lots of searches.... I finally broke down and asked..... does anyone have this set-up.....and what all am I missing here.
From my understanding, the MS will only need (from the ICM):
TACH *(wired)
EST
BYPASS
REF HI *(wired)

However after wiring up the coil ign mod, I am stuck with not enough wires for the ignition module.
I am working without even a Haynes trying to figure this out.

Also, to make matters even more complicated, I have to convert all this to the Quad 4 harness, then convert that to the GEO Storm harness, then convert that to the Megasquirt harness. Only the 2.2 so far is hanging me up. I don't have it. I do have a wiring diagram for an older model 2.2. But it does not seem to be the correct one at all.
The Quad 4 has a 10 wire design coming out. The 2.2 (from a 1999 Cav) has an 8 wire design. I may have presumed wrong, that the Q4 was similar to the Twin Cam as far as wiring goes. which is the swap I was reading.
I hope any of this even makes a small amount of sense.

I pulled the wiring for the ignition control modules:

The '99 2.2L has 5 wires:

Pin - Wire Color - Circuit No. - Function
A - PPL - 574 - Crankshaft Position Sensor Return
B - WHT - 423 - Electronic Spark Timing Control Signal
C - ORN - 406 - Electronic Spark Timing Control Signal B
D - PPL/WHT - 430 - Electronic Spark Timing High Reference Signal
E - YEL - 573 - Crankshaft Position Sensor Signal
F-L - Not Used

The '99 2.4L has 7:

A - WHT - 423 - Electronic Spark Timing Control Signal
B - ORN - 406 - Electronic Spark Timing Control Signal B
C-E - Not Used
F - YEL - 573 - Crankshaft Position Sensor Signal
G - PPL/WHT - 430 - Electronic Spark Timing High Reference Signal
H - RED/BLK - 453 - Electronic Spark Timing Low Reference Signal
J - PPL - 574 - Crankshaft Position Sensor Return
K - BLK - 750 - Ground
L - PNK - 239 - Fuse Output, Ignition 1

Hope that helps

I realised my mistake now. Thanks for the info. It turns out you cannot use the 98+2.2 ignition module as it does not have the bypass or EST signal with the Megasquirt. It looks like I am off on my way to find another ignition system.
Thanks for the help again.
