So I did a quick google search and it looks like a fair number of people are having issues with their fuel pumps around 60-80k miles. Replacement on mine:
80,000 miles
Cost: $950
Anyone else?
I had to have my pump replaced at around 80k, mine is the 2200, not an Ecotec, but I believe its the same pump. And my sisters '00 2200 (same as mine) her fuel pump went out the same day mine did, she had something like 65k miles.

150k on my ohv, cost $0 installed b/c my dad is the VP of the service chain
i wouldve done it myself but i was in classes at the time and needed the car quick
Anyone have the part number for the OE version?
The gas is what keeps the fuel pump cool. Running low all the time, causes the pump have more heat and the fuel pump doesnt like to run hot.
i have 45,000, original fuel pump, changed filter once so car
- 2004 Cavalier - 124k, owned since new
i had to replace mine last winter at like 96k...left me stranded on the side of the highway in -4* F......wasnt fun let me tell you....540 to fix.
geeze.... that's a lot for a fuel pump.
A new pump/sending unit is only around $250. If you just want a pump, that's even cheaper. Hell, I just grabbed a fuel pump/sending unit from a junkyard this past weekend for $40. Took more time to drive the 25 miles to the yard than it did to pull the pump.
It's a simple procedure, and shouldn't take more than 2-3 hours at most. I'd advise doing it on your own if you can. It only requires basic tools.
mine has been on for about 10k and being that im going boost ill probably just install the walbro myself then...
