Hey all, I am new to this site, I have a 2000 Pontiac sunfire 2.2 with a three spd At. The problem It would not always start and finally would not start at all, as in it would not turn over. I replace the neutral safety switch and the ignitions switch now it starts most cases, but some sporadic times it won't start. Any one had this problem and got it figured out ? Any advice would be greatly appriciated.
first off. Disconnect the negative from the battery and then check to make sure the positive connector is clean. If not use a backing soda/water mixture to clean it. If that isn't the case then my guess is either a fuel pump, theft system is activated, or like mine has a fried ECU
The battery cables are clean and new battery within the last 6 mo. What did your car do when the ECU was fried, did it still start most of the time and just not start at the most inconvenient times? Thanks
Are the negative battery cable clean? for where it mounts on the body and motor?
I had the same symptoms, cleaned the neg battery cable, and it fixed it.
