anyone change fuel injectors on a 97 2.2? ive done quite a bit of car work but nothing with fuel systems.
I recently did on my 2.4, it's not really that hard, just make sure you bleed off the fuel pressure first or gas will spray everywhere, and pay attention to the injector seals, you'll prabably wan't to have new ones handy. Once to fuel rail and lines are unbolted, the injectors should just slide out of the head with the fuel rail, then all you have to do is unplug them from the wiring harness, then unclip the retainer clips and pull them out of the fuel rail.
When putting them back in, you can apply a small amount of vasilean to the lower seals if they don't wan't to go in or stay put. I've found it to be easier to install them back into the fuel rail first instead of the head, but most people do it the other way.
I did mine on a 2.4, but your 2.2 should be close enough for what I've said to be usefull. The fuel system design really isn't that much different. Hopefullt someone else can be more engine specific, such as if you have to remove your fuel pressure regulator or not, and where all the bolts are.
fixed it in like 1 hour with a break with out a hitch. thanks.
Glad I could help, after you've done it the first time, it's pretty easy after that. I'm suprised your still up too, I'm logging off now, I really need to get some sleep and I have to put my car back together in the morning.
